The Governing Council of St. Ignatius University Kabale (IGUKA) chaired by Prof. Nazarius Mbona Tumwesigye together with the University Management led by the Vice Chancellor Rev. Fr. Prof. Maximiano Ngabirano, held a landmark meeting with Academic and Administrative Staff and Student representatives on Friday, March 20, 2026.

The University’s Union President H.E. Akansasira Merrick, who sworn in as the first guild president on Monday, March 16, 2026 together with his cabinet (Union secretaries and Councillors) attended the meeting making it a vibrant gathering of University stakeholders. St. Ignatius University Kabale is a university that Inspires, Empowers and Transforms.

The meeting centered on promoting creativity, innovation, and research, with Prof. Tumwesigye emphasizing the importance of publishing research findings and striving for excellence in all endeavors. He reminded the Staff members and students to uphold the university’s values and God-fearing principles while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.

The Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Ngabirano assured staff and students of the council’s and management’s unwavering support, acknowledging their tireless efforts in promoting academic excellence. He also encouraged the staff to be innovative and entrepreneurial, leveraging technology to enhance teaching, learning, and research.

The Students’ representatives, who described the meeting as “unusual,” were visibly inspired by the council’s presence and encouragement. They thanked the council members for sharing inspirational messages, feeling motivated to succeed in their academic pursuits.

The event facilitated open dialogue, with participants engaging in constructive discussions and feedback, strengthening ties between university leadership and stakeholders. The meeting concluded on a high note, with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to excellence.
