The Vocations office Kabale Diocese helps to nurture vocation to priesthood. As our Diocese grows leaps and bounds, I cannot stop thanking God for the many vocations to the priesthood. I continue to see an increase in the number of men coming forward to speak with our Vocation’s Team regarding a possible calling to the priesthood.

Discerning a calling to priesthood can initially be quite daunting, where several concerns may arise for a variety of reasons. The Diocese of Kabale is blessed to have a very capable and dedicated Vocation’s Team of six priests who work with these young men to gently encourage them to discern God’s purpose for their lives. As a priest, it is a great privilege for me to be part of their discernment journey.  The 6 priests on the team are:

  1. Fr. Charles Mugabi
  2. Fr. Augustine Tumushime
  3. Fr. Charles Byarugaba
  4. Fr. Boniface Barisigara
  5. Fr. Kenneth Birungi
  6. Fr. Alphonse Mbabazi

We currently have seventy-six major seminarians in our Diocese studying from Uganda in the four major seminaries of St. Thomas Aquinas National Seminary – Katigondo in Masaka, Uganda Martyrs’ National Seminary – Alokolum in Gulu, St. Paul’s National Seminary -Kinyamasika in Fort Portal and St. Mary’s National Seminary – Ggaba in Kampala.

This year 2023, we were privileged to have sixteen men ordained to the priesthood which has been the largest number of ordinands since the inception of our Diocese in 1966. I am deeply indebted to our Bishop who supports us in formation and our benefactors who sponsor some of our seminarians by paying their tuition. Kindly keep our seminarians in your prayers as they have made a commitment to take time to truly discern and be formed as good men pursuing the priesthood. Also, remember to pray for the priests in our diocese who serve heroically in often hidden ways.

In case you wish to support the Bishop to sponsor a seminarian, feel free to contact the Vocation’s Director of Kabale Diocese on mobile +256778072272 or email mugabicharles@gmail.com.

Thank you,

Fr. Charles Mugabi
