He was born on 8th February 1950 in Rubira village of Rushoroza Parish, Kabale District. He was ordained priest on May 18, 1975 and appointed to serve as Bishop’s Secretary and Vice-Chancellor. In August 1977, He was sent to pursue studies at the University of Portland, Oregon – U.S.A. where he attained a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Coming back from the States, March 1980, he was once again asked to serve as Bishop’s Secretary and Chancellor and later, as Financial Administrator.
In May 1984, He was assigned to serve as Episcopal Vicar in Rukungiri District and at the same time as Parish Priest and Dean of Nyakibale. In March 1987, he was transferred to Interservice till January 1995 when he returned to the Diocese to once again serve as Financial Administrator until he was nominated Bishop-elect of Kabale Diocese on March 15, 2003. He was ordained and installed as the 4th Bishop of Kabale on 8th June 2003 at Rushoroza to succeed Bishop Robert Mary Gay.
He retired on July 15, 2026 having attained canonical age of retirement and Pope Leo XIV appointed Msgr. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire (M.Afr) to succeed him as 5th Bishop of Kabale Diocese. On the same day, the Pope appointed Bishop Callist Rubaramira as an Apostolic Administrator for Kabale Diocese, until the Bishop Elect takes canonical possession of the Diocese.
