The Kabale Diocesan Mock results for both senior four and senior six were on Thursday, June 12, 2025 released indicating a slightly improvement in performance compared to 2024. A total of 78 Catholic founded Schools had their candidates sit for Ordinary Level exams while 38 Schools had candidates who sat for Advanced Level exams.
According to Mr. Monday Christopher, chairman of the Academic Committee and head teacher of St. Mary’s College Rushoroza, a total of 6,442 candidates sat for Uganda Certificate of Education (S.4) while 2,877 sat for Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (S.6) bringing the total number of candidates to 9,319 for Kabale Diocese in 2025. This presents a slight increase of 14% of the total candidates enrolled compared to last year 2024. At O Level, the performance improved compared to 2024, while at A level the best had 15, hence a need for more efforts in performance.

He took members into interpretation of results based on Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) format whereby Result 1 showed that a candidate scored at least a D in the given subject. Result 2 means that a candidate missed either an activity or project. Result 3 means that a candidate didn’t score a D in the subject while Result 4 means that a candidate missed the score. For Ordinary Level, there were 666 A’s scored, 3168 B’s, 4465 C’s, 7755 D’s, and 4495 E’s while for Advanced Level, there were 55 A’s, 189 B’s, 297 C’s, 449 D’s, 1128 E’s, 2635 O’s and 2869 F’s.
Mr. Monday noted that there was a need to embrace technology and carry out online registration of candidates. There was also a need to do manageable rewards of best performing candidates in order to motivate students hence improving the academic performance. As for marking, Mr Monday urged the head teachers to always make recommendations of the teachers for marking and each school would be providing 2 teachers so that they get skill and technical knowledge of marking.
He thanked the Diocesan Administration for the support extended to them. After his report concerning the academic performance of both S.4 and S.6 candidates in the Kabale Diocesan Mock, the results were officially released by Msgr. John Vianney Sunday, the Vicar General and were also uploaded on the school portals.
Being one of the promoters of St. Ignatius University Kabale (IGUKA), Mr. Monday also informed his fellow head teachers that the university was a member of Inter-University Council of East Africa and that there exists scholarships under Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral levels in the member states. He urged heads of secondary schools to encourage their staff members to pursue career update and exploit the chances of the available courses with Scholarships across member countries of East Africa.

The chairperson of the Kabale Diocesan Secondary Schools Association, Mr Katongole Kereson who also doubles as the head teacher of St. Agatha Girls’ Secondary School Kakore thanked the Academic Committee for the work well done and for preparing a comprehensive report and interpreting the results. He also thanked all the head teachers for the attendance and good work they are doing to maintain standards, discipline and academic excellence of their respective schools.
The Association of Catholic Educational Institutions (ACEI), Rukungiri chapter gave a report that the district has 11 government aided Secondary Schools, 7 private Secondary Schools, 3 Technical Schools, 1 Health Training School and 1 minor Seminary. The chairman expressed gratitude to the education team which is cooperative. In sports, St. Jerome S.S Ndama, St. Paul’s S.S Buyanja and Immaculate Heart Girls’ S.S Nyakibale represented the district in Regional Sports and won 7 trophies out of 9. Immaculate Heart Girls’ School and St. Paul’s S.S Buyanja won a bronze medal each and will represent Uganda in All Africa Ball games in Algeria.
The schools in Rukungiri come together for prayer day and this creates more bond among students and the interaction created improves themselves. The Education Committee for Rukungiri District is established at Nyakibale Parish and has a full time functional office and on June 16, 2025, the Committee will carry out school inspection in the Catholic founded schools in the district.
A member thanked the collaboration and spirit of togetherness existing among schools in different districts. There was an appeal to extend the spirit of collaboration on the Diocesan level and the Diocesan Education Office was tasked to identify some activities that bring schools together on diocesan lebe eg. Music competitions or Sports competitions.
Mr. Remigio Byamukama, the Diocesan Education Secretary for Kabale Diocese welcomed Vicar General (chief guest) for officially releasing the results. He thanked schools heads for containing the pressure in schools and working hard for the progress of institutions. He thanked the schools for supporting the celebration of Bishop’s Priestly Golden jubilee celebrations on 18.5.2025 and for active participation.

He urged head teachers to monitor how teachers are handling the subjects of they are following the curriculum and syllabus.
Msgr. John Vianney Sunday, Vicar General of Kabale Diocese, congratulated the schools upon the results. He called them to be Pilgrims of Hope and where some things went wrong, let them be hopeful for the best next time. He delivered greetings from the Bishop and his gratefulness to all those who participated in his Priestly Golden Jubilee celebrations and gifts.

He reminded the school administrators that we are in Jubilee Year which calls for active participation in different activities e.g Jubilee pilgrimage, jubilee year prayer, jubilee year hymn and this participation is for faith building. He reminded them to be sources of Hope to their families, communities, schools and the rest of humanity.
He also thanked them for special contributions towards Iguka and appealed for more support without which the institution will not go far. This institution will be used by head teachers and teachers to improve themselves and made a strong reminder towards improving themselves by starting small and saving for this purpose.
Do not be stagnant in low levels of education. Go for further studies and improve yourselves because we need stability and sustainability in our institutions. You must have the capacity and this capacity is acquired by going for further studies- Msgr. John Vianney Sunday.
He appreciates the general improvement that has been exhibited academically. However there should be evaluation of individual institutions and see where there needs improvement so that the mission of the Church can continue.
