324,531,500 shillings was raised today at a fundraising function held at St. Kizito Maziba Catholic parish in Maziba Sub county, Kabale District. the function was spearheaded by the Ndorwa East legislator Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba who mobilized more than 200 million shillings from friends and well wishers. The fundraising ceremony was preceded by Holy Sacrifice of Mass led by Msgr. John Vianney Sunday, Vicar General Kabale Diocese to celebrate Pentecost Sunday. in his homily, the Vicar General reminded the faithful that Christians receive the Holy Spirit at baptism and commissions them to go and spread the Good News. He noted that some people commission themselves and go around in people’s homes claim to be praying for them yet they are agents of the evil one. He warned the faithful from the false prophets in communities that are rampant today and urged them to remain faithful and committed to their religion. Msgr. John Vianney Sunday thanked Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba, who is the Chairperson of Kabale Diocesan Land Board, for supporting Diocesan projects like Bishops Annual Appeal Fund (BAAF).
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, the Deputy Speaker of Ugandan Parliament, who was represented by Hon. Theodore Ssekikubo, the Lwemiyaga County, thanked Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba for supporting development in the constituency. He contributed 10 million shillings cash and he together with H.E Ceaser Mulenga will contribute 600 iron sheets, 100 ridges and 60 valleys for roofing the renovated church.
Eng. Didas Ndamira of Vidas Engineering Company said that the whole renovation project needs 1 billion shillings to be completed. This includes removing the roof up to the ring beam, then building the gallery, up to the roofing plus terrazzo. Eng Didas was entrusted with the whole work of renovation and together with his family, he contributed all the timber that is needed.
Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba in his remarks thanked all those that contributed towards this noble cause and promised that by Christmas time, all the work will be completed so that On Christmas day, Christians of Maziba parish will pray from the Church in thanksgiving to God for the work that will have been done. he also thanked all the catechists and chairpersons of Small Christian Communities (Obutaagi) for the mobilization to raise funds for renovtion of the church. Hon. Wilfred also mentioned Hon. Catherine Ndamira (Woman MP Kabale) and Hon Sara Adeke (Woman MP Soroti) for mobilizing funds from fellow MPS. He applauded the parish priest of Maziba parish, Fr. Achilles Kiwanuka Kabaka, AJ and the team working with him form the progress made so far and bringing Maziba parish back on the map. he promised that after the renovation of the church, all efforts will be on construction of the new and modern priests’ house.
