On the last day of November (first Sunday of Advent), St. Francis of Assisi first Mass choir was officially inaugurated in St. Francis Parish Kyanamira, one of the youngest parishes of Kabale Diocese.
The members of the previously known as St. Francis Choristers, through their chaplain, Rev. Fr. Armel Somda, had written a heartfelt official letter to the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Charles Nikiema, asking for his blessing and permission to officially serve in the new parish. The Parish Priest welcomed their idea and granted them his blessing.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Sunday , November 30, 2025 during First Mass, at St. Francis Parish Kyanamira. It all began with a special blessing of the new choir gowns which were made from the members’ voluntary savings and the generous support of Mr. Francis Bonanza and family and the contribution from Mr . Ntuhe Anthony and family.
Speaking on behalf of choit members, Ms. Tusiime Doreen, the Choir directress thanked those who have supported the choir especially Francis Bonanza and Anthony Ntuhe for their self‑less love. She thanked the parishioners for always being near them with constant support. She also appealed for continued support to the choir in various ways, including covering the fees for the music trainer, procuring choir tools like drums, costumes, hymn books among others.

Rev. Fr. Armel Somda, the choir chaplain echoed his gratitude to all those that have supported the parish choir. “We are deeply grateful for the generosity of the families of Bonanza and Anthony which will bless our ministry for years to come,” he said. He appealed for more support from other Christians of good will to purchase additional equipment for praise and worship—such as a heavy duty keyboard, brass band, a computer with a projection system, and other needed items. He also appealed to the men of the parish to join the choir so that the group could achieve balanced voices.
At the conclusion of Mass, Fr. Somda, on behalf of the parish priest, officially inaugurated the choir with new name St. Francis of Assisi Choir under the patronage of St. Francis of Assisi, who doubles as the patron saint of the Parish. He requested members to invite and recruit more members to join, noting that the choir is now a fully recognized parish ministry.
