St. Barnabas Parish Karujanga was inaugurated on the feast of Exaltation of the Cross (September 14, 2025) by Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira with Rev. Fr. Boniface Barisigara as its pioneer Parish Priest.

It started in 1930 as a sub station under Kabimbiri muluka which belonged to Rushoroza Parish but in 1931, the muluka was transferred to Karujanga. In 1963, Rwanyena was granted parish status by Bishop Jean Marie Ogez having been curved off from Rushoroza Parish whichw as still under Mbarara Diocese.  In 1966, Kabale Dicoese was erected with Rt. rev. Gervase Ngalanga as its first bishop and Rwanyena Parish came under Kabale.

Karujanga parish is the 43rd Parish in Kabale Diocese and was curved off from Our Lady of Assumption Rwanyena Parish It is comprised of 12 sub stations (hiikas) of Karujanga, Kyonyo, Kisaasa, Kabimbiri, Katuna, Mukarangye, Kibuga, Nyakeina, Rushaabo, Mushenyi, Shooko and Kyasano. Karujanga parish is comprised of 138 Small Christian Communities (obutaagi).

At the time of inauguration, Karujanga Parish had 6 priests and one deacon. These are:

In the field of Education, Karujanga parish has ove Catholic founded Secondary School called St. Barnabas Secondary School Karujanga which was established in 1981 after the visit of then then Bishop Barnabas Halem’Imana to Karujanga.

The Parish has also got seven Primary School namely:
