Candidates and parents urged to be thankful for the gift of education.

KABALE – A total of 97 Primary Seven candidates of Bishop Asili Primary School in Kirigime Southern Division of Kabale Municipality were on Saturday dedicated to the Lord as they prepared to sit their Primary Leaving Examination (PLE). The Sacrifice of Mass where candidates were prayed for ande dedicated to the Lord was presides over by Rev. Fr. Placid Mugumya, the Chancellor and Bishop’s Secretary for Kabale Diocese.

In his homily Fr. Mugumya called upon the candidates and parents to always be thankful for the gift of education offered by the institution. He recalled the recent standoff by teachers which had disrupted most the the candidates in government schools urging the parents and children to deem it as a befitting reason to thank God because the unfortunate incident had not affected Bishop Asili in any way.

The dedication is a routine annual event where the school offers prayers invoking the Holy Spirit to fall afresh on the candidates for quality performance which is always reflected in the quality results in the national examinations.

The headteacher of the school, Rev Sr. Margaret Tusiime presented a number of developments that had been achieved with the support from parents noting that the school had acquired infrastructure worth 37 rooms of shelter for staff as well as land for co-curricular activities adjacent to the school.

The vice chairman of the School Management Committee, Mr Isaiah Kanyamahane and R.D.C of Kitagwenda district encouraged the candidates to be positive about the forthcoming exams. He thanked the parents for continuous support in child upbringing despite the economic challenges faced at household level.

The Kabale district RDC, Rtd Maj. Godfery Katamba thanked the management for grooming children in a religious environment which contributes to societal morals. The RDC condemned the growing rate of drug abuse in Kabale Municipality which is growing rapidly as one the major causes of weird behaviour in the area.

Bishop Asili has over the past years continued to portray excellence in both academic and other recreational activities setting a landmark trend that has attracted pupils from local and international setting.
