|The Right Reverend Gervasius Placidus Nkalanga|
He was the Auxilliary of Bukoba Diocese before he was appointed as the Apostolic Administrator for Kabale Diocese when it was erected in 1966. He was a Muhaya and a native of Tanzania. He came with his gifts, notably his evangelical simplicity and persuasive personality which made him an ideal leader. His ability to listen and to dialogue won over many people. When all else failed, we cannot forget his captivating and disarming smile that helped in solving a good number of problems. Three years later, on 4th April 1969, Bishop Nkalanga was called back to Tanzania to take over the Bishopric of Bukoba Diocese from His Eminence Laurien Cardinal Rugambwa who had been appointed Archbishop of Dar es Salaam.
